What is Onward?

Onward is Texas Tech University's crowdfunding platform! Through Onward, the Red Raider community can come together to support projects that make a lasting impact. Whether you're fueling campus programs, innovative research, or bringing new ideas to life, Onward empowers collective giving to move Texas Tech University onward into its second century.

How does it work? What is Crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is the collective fundraising of many individuals coming together, often through online platforms, to support a project, group, or initiative At Texas Tech, our platform allows donors to contribute to specific projects, departments, or initiatives that they care about, helping to make a direct impact on the Texas Tech community.

When crowdfunding projects are live, supporters can share the link with their networks, and anyone interested can donate. Contributions are made online through our secure platform, and funds raised go directly to the specific area or project the campaign supports.

Who can donate through Onward?

Anyone can donate through  ! Whether you’re a Texas Tech alum, student, faculty member, staff, parent, or friend of the university, your support is welcome. We encourage anyone passionate about making a difference at Texas Tech to participate, no matter where you are or how much you give.

How do I participate as a donor?

  1. Visit the Onward platform: Go to our crowdfunding website to explore the available campaigns.

  2. Select a campaign: Browse through the various projects and initiatives to find one that resonates with you.

  3. Donate: Click on the campaign you’d like to support, choose your donation amount, and complete the payment process through our secure portal.

  4. Spread the word: Share the campaign with your friends and family to help raise awareness and encourage others to join you in supporting Texas Tech.

What if a project doesn't reach it's goal?

If a project doesn’t reach its funding goal by the campaign’s deadline, the funds raised will still be used to support the project. In some cases, projects may be scaled back or adjusted based on the amount raised. We are committed to transparency and will keep donors informed about how their contributions are being utilized, ensuring that every dollar makes a meaningful impact.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. The Texas Tech Foundation, Inc. receives gifts made through Onward. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that ensures all donations made to Texas Tech University benefit the institution as intended. After making your donation, you will receive an emailed receipt.

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card will be charged immediately upon completing your donation through the Onward platform. You will receive a confirmation email shortly after your donation is processed, which will include the transaction details for your records.
